WANDI NERIDA COVID-19 Procedures – UPDATE

In our commitment to the safety of our community, the team at Wandi Nerida has worked diligently to ensure that all staff, participants, and visitors comply with all COVID-19 related health directives.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our community for the understanding, support, and compliance with the measures that we have introduced in our efforts to play our part in reducing the spread of COVID-19.

As you are likely aware, important updates regarding COVID-19 vaccinations and mask requirements have been announced by the Queensland Government which have implications for the employees, participants (and their families) of Wandi Nerida.

Specifically:

  • As of 17 December 17, 2021, it will be mandatory for all health workers (including those working in private settings) to be double vaccinated.
Wandi Nerida is pleased to advise that we are currently compliant with this directive and that all clinicians and support persons working at Wandi Nerida have produced evidence of their double vaccination status.

  • Also as of 17 December 17, 2021, Queensland businesses will be required to restrict entry to individuals aged over 16 years who are unvaccinated.
While we acknowledge the difficulty and discomfort that this might cause for some, Wandi Nerida will be taking measures to ensure that we strictly adhere to these rules in the interests of safety for all those attending our facility. We are still working on the specifics as to how Wandi Nerida will enforce this mandate however, you can be assured that as of 17 December, only those individuals who are double vaccinated (unless aged under 16 years) will be permitted entry to Wandi Nerida.

  • If you are a family member of a Wandi Nerida participant or regular visitor to our facility, and aged over 16 years who is not currently double vaccinated, we encourage you to get vaccinated, or to raise your concerns about vaccinations with your GP, and/or start conversations about alternative treatment options.

  • Finally, it was announced that mask restrictions had been lifted.
Given Wandi Nerida provides services to vulnerable people, masks will continue to be required by all staff and visitors (irrespective of vaccination status) up until 17 December 2021.

We appreciate that these announcements will be difficult for some of the individuals and families attending Wandi Nerida; however, we are hopeful that you will continue to support our commitment to the safety of our community through understanding and complying with these policies.

We will continue to provide updates regarding these changes. If you have questions, concerns, or feedback in the meantime, please get in touch by sending an email to admin@wandinerida.org.au.
