Wandi Nerida is here to support anyone with an eating disorder aged 15 or above who would benefit from an intensive residential stay to support their real recovery. We provide a unique and home-like environment, supported by caring staff who understand what is needed to enable recovery from an eating disorder. We’re a gender-inclusive service welcoming participants from all locations and with any eating disorder (however you must be medically stable to join us). Residents of Queensland who wish to use one of our publicly-funded beds will need to meet specific eligibility criteria.
Participants at Wandi Nerida participate in an intensive program including group supports and individual sessions using our unique skills and location. Every participant is supported by a team of professionals, including psychologists, nurses, dietitians, recovery navigators, GPs and psychiatrists. Most of our staff have their own experience with an eating disorder and demonstrate every day that real recovery is possible. Set in the beautiful environment of the Sunshine Coast hinterland, we make full use of our expansive grounds to provide nature based and equine therapy, art and movement groups. Your skills will build over your weeks with us, with most people staying for 8 to 13 weeks. As the only residential facility in Australia able to support people aged 15 to 17 we have specific measures in place for these circumstances.
You can join us directly if you wish to be a self-funded private participant, subject to bed availability and your own circumstances. Residents of Queensland may be able to access publicly funded beds, based on referral and eligibility requirements that we can discuss with you (public beds are allocated by QuEDS).

Meeting the eligibility criteria is an important first step, but acceptance to Wandi Nerida and admission timing will not only be based on your eligibility or position on the waiting list.
Factors we also consider include:
If you meet these eligibility requirements and believe residential treatment at Wandi Nerida is right for you, the next step is to arrange a referral from your treating GP or psychiatrist. We suggest booking a long appointment, as the referral requires detailed information about your eating disorder, current treatment and blood results.
The referral and assessment process typically takes up to six weeks. You and your treating doctor will be kept informed throughout, and you may be contacted to complete a self-assessment and provide additional information.
Before admission, you’ll be required to review the participant handbook and sign the participant agreement. The handbook contains detailed information about treatment at Wandi Nerida, and we encourage you to review it with a support person to ensure residential care is the right approach for you.
Once accepted and placed on the waitlist, our team will contact you as soon as we have a confirmed admission date to provide further details. On your day of admission, you’ll be met by our Clinical Director and other Wandi Nerida staff who will help you settle in. We understand this is a significant step and are committed to making your transition as smooth as possible.

Our team is here to help you understand whether Wandi Nerida is right for you. We can discuss your individual circumstances and guide you through the referral process.
