Evaluations of Wandi Nerida

Independent clinical and economic evaluations of Wandi Nerida have demonstrated treatment success across mental and physical health measures with expected longer-term benefits.

The clinical evaluation, conducted by Western Sydney University and the economic evaluation conducted by Monash University followed participants’ treatment at the facility for up to six months post discharge.

Improvements in eating disorder symptoms and mental health outcomes

Participants saw a 60% reduction in eating disorder symptoms and behaviours and improved quality of life following discharge.

Quality of care, involvement and therapy

Over 90% of participants and carers expressed satisfaction with the quality of care, involvement and therapy at Wandi Nerida. Participants particularly valued treatment components such as meal support, lived experience staff, individual therapy, group therapy, creative therapies, family sessions, exercise therapy, and equine therapy.

The role of lived experience

The inclusion of staff with their own eating disorder lived experience was highly valued, allowing participants to feel heard, understood and that recovery is possible.
